What is Carbon Neutral?
"Emitting no carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, also employing a technique to absorb carbon dioxide so it is not emitted" For example, becoming Carbon Neutral is usually achieved by implementing renewable energy projects that offset the amount of carbon dioxide emissions such as planting trees which absorb CO2. | What is Corrugated Board?
Corrugated board is the new plastic! Made from a mixture of wood and recycled paper waste, it’s more environmentally friendly both in terms of manufacturing emissions (particularly CO2, NOx and SOx) and post-use biodegradability. It’s also incredibly cost-effective (unlike plastic, there is little waste of natural resources in its manufacture) and can be brought to market with much shorter lead times to meet advertisers’ print campaign requirements.

Corrugated board is made from natural and renewable resources. After use, it becomes new paper again for the benefit of our environment. Recovered board is the first raw material source of the corrugated packaging industry. The increase in recovery and recycling is an efficient way to reduce landfills.
Corrugated board provides exceptional stacking and space utilization which guarantees optimum loading of trucks. This means fewer trucks on the road, less traffic and less atmospheric pollution.

Other Important Environmental Facts
- Each ton (2000 pounds) of recycled paper can save 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, three cubic yards of landfill space, 4000 kilowatts of energy, and 7000 gallons of water. This represents a 64% energy savings, a 58% water savings, and 60 pounds less of air pollution!
- The 17 trees saved can absorb a total of 250 pounds of carbon dioxide from the air each year. Burning that same ton of paper would create 1500 pounds of carbon dioxide.
- The construction costs of a paper mill designed to use waste paper is 50 to 80% less than the cost of a mill using new pulp.

Biodegradable facts
A ‘biodegradable’ product has the ability to break down safely and relatively quickly, by biological means if placed into a suitable landfill. If this is not achieved note how long it takes for these commonly used products to biodegrade when put into a normal landfill mass:
